Flag football made a comeback this year following an eventful game last spirit week. The now senior class was praised for their dedication and success in defeating the class of 2022 last year. This year, they were faced with the challenge of the class of 2024 and the determination to remain undefeated.

On Thursday, Sept. 29 the juniors and seniors came together to determine the winner of the 2022 Flag Football game. Beginning at seven pm the players and coaches took the field to speak with the refs and discuss the rules of the game.

“I was nervous speaking to the refs before the game, it seemed so serious and official and I began to get worried,” said senior Amanda Bechtlofft.

The game went back and forth for the entire first half. Both teams had control of the ball and it was truly a toss up.

“Even though we were unsure whether or not we would win, we kept up our confidence and continued to cheer each other on,” said senior Aubrey Elwood.

During the second half of the game it became evident that the seniors would come out victorious. After an interception that was returned for a touchdown by senior Natalie Mandarino, the entire senior class, both fans and players alike, were confident in their likelihood of success.

“We were up by 18 in the fourth quarter and we were confident that we would win so we were able to enjoy the rest of the game,” said Bechtlofft.

With a final score of 24-6, the seniors remained undefeated and were ecstatic to come out with the win. Although creating some playful competition between the two grades, the event was a great success full of school participation. This year’s game was truly a wonderful event to help conclude this year’s spirit week.
