Graphic design students began hanging their positive message murals on Nov 2. The beautiful murals display detailed artistry along with positive affirmations, motivational phrases and inspirational quotes. Their purpose is not only meant to liven the hallways, but to also liven student’s and staff’s mood.

“All the quotes had to have something positive to say. Then, they [students] had to create different imagery, background, or design based off that quote,” said Idell.

Students were tasked with creating rough sketches of their murals, researching positive quotes, creating color schemes and planning out specific hallways to hold their pieces.

“It was very fun,” said graphic design student Elise McCann. “I liked not having to follow a template. I had complete control over my own project.”

The murals all have a wide range artistically. You can really tell the students were given freedom to create their own original work. Some works are designed with pastel colors and freeform shapes, while others down the hall are strikingly bold and geometrical.

“Right now, there are currently eight murals up from this year,” said Idell. “There’s 12 more that are going to be up soon.”

You can find murals from this year and last year all around the school. Keep an eye out on the third floor, the commons staircase and math hallway for the beautiful new murals.
