Nancy’s Pizza was a popular pizza restaurant in Lemont. Its closing saddened many Lemont residents after being open for decades.

On Friday, Aug. 11, Nancy’s Pizzeria, a long-time pizza place, had its last day open for business in Lemont, permanently closing the next day.

The pizza restaurant was located at 1240 State Street and was open for decades.

“We’re sorry, but this location has closed,” reads the Nancy’s website. No reason is listed for the closure.

Up until its closure, the Lemont community has ordered from Nancy’s frequently. .

“The day before they were closing, I was dropping off a package at the UPS store, right next door, and one of the drivers stopped me and said, ‘Did you know Nancy’s is closing tomorrow?’ And I was shocked, and he said ‘Why don’t you order something tonight?’ and I said ‘Wow, I think I will.’” said Debra Grand, special education paraeducator at Lemont High School and long-time Lemonter.

Some Lemont High School students also had worked at Nancy’s.

“I heard from some of my soccer friends that it was a good place to work, so I decided to work there,” said sophomore Yara Sadeq.

Nancy’s Pizzeria operates several locations in the Chicago area. If Lemont High School students and the community are feeling a taste for pizza, they will now have to order from the Homer Glen location, located at 14318 S. Will Cook Road, or Lockport at 1209 E. Ninth Street.
