A six-episode series just hit Netflix, and it’s leaving viewers speechless. The infamous series is called “His & Hers,” and it hit No. 1 in TV shows on Netflix almost immediately after being released.
The thrilling series starts with the main character, Anna Andrews, returning to her job as a news reporter in Atlanta after disappearing for one year due to the loss of her 6-month-old child, Charlotte Alice Harper. After being rejected to return back to her job, she begs her boss to give her one last chance as a field reporter to cover a story about a dead body found in her hometown, Dahlonega, Georgia.
When she arrives at the scene of the crime, she sees her estranged husband, detective Jack Harper. Later in the episode, Detective Harper reveals the victim of the murder was Anna’s friend from high school, Rachel Hopkins, which causes Anna to dive in headfirst.
As the series progresses, the couple’s estranged love rekindles, which leaves many fans awestruck and overall celebratory of the recoupling.
The show is presented in a “he said, she said” manner, where everyone is blaming each other, due to out of context scenarios. People were able to gather that it was a serial killer right after they detected a pattern, which was a friendship bracelet placed in each victim’s mouth.
Detective Harper was suspected because he had met Rachel minutes before she was found in the forests of Dahlonega.
Anna was suspected because she was part of the intimate circle of Rachel, Helen, Zoey and Katherine Kelly. Anna and Katherine were typically victims of the girl’s bullying, and things really kicked off when the three left Katherine and Anna to be attacked in the woods on Anna’s 16th birthday.
Within the last 15 minutes of the entire series, all the witty one liners Anna had been reciting at the start of each episode formed together into one long letter from Alice Andrews, Anna’s mother, which was confessing to the series of murders of each girl.
In the note, Alice explained that she watched tapes of Anna every day to keep a part of Anna with her while she was away. On one of the tapes, she found footage of Katherine and Anna being assaulted in the woods while all the other girls merely watched. This enraged Alice, and she wanted revenge for her daughter. Full of anger and motherly love, she killed Rachel, Helen and Zoey, and covered each murder up by faking dementia.
When Anna finishes reading the confession, she looks at her mother and smiles, and her mother smiles back while she is outside with Anna’s husband, Jack, and Meg, whom the couple took ownership of after her mother, Zoey, was a victim of Alice’s gruesome revenge plot. This scene is heartfelt, but also extremely bone-chilling.
Nonetheless, this mini-series was inquisitive, insightful and definitely a show to binge over a weekend.
