Two of the world’s wealthiest men, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, are teaming up with Richard Branson and other high-profile entrepreneurs to create  a multi-billion dollar fund, dubbed the Breakthrough Energy Coalition.

The world is expected to use 50 percent more energy in 2050 than it does now. China, India and the United States are expected to arrive at agreements for clean energy investments. It’s absolutely possible to decide on clean, affordable and reliable energy sources to help people around the world by stopping climate change.

Funds are being created to help the energy creation and will be invested with the most promising innovations showing current solar, wind, hydro and biofuel technologies. Gates is hoping that the government and investors will help out and join them for a safer better future.

Gates and President Barack Obama are expected to reveal a significant initiative called, Mission Innovation. The initiative will work with governments to double public investments with energy research for over 5 years. The Guardian interviewed Zuckerberg asking about this topic. Zuckerberg noted, “Current progress towards sustainable energy is too slow.”

Zuckerberg and Gates are getting some help with funding this with governments, universities, billionaire entrepreneurs, investment fund managers, and tech CEO’s from all over the world that can recognize this huge investment so they can replace fossil fuels with cheaper sustainable energy production.

In order to speed up the process, Zuckerburg, his wife Prisilla Chan and Gates partnered up with a huge amount of people including Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff, Amazon head Jeff Bezos, Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, Likedin creator Reid Hoffman, Ailbaba Group executive chairman Jack Ma, and  CEO Meg Whitman.

Gates and his associates have a feeling that business can play an equal role. There are a lot of problems that can lead to innovative ideas and putting them out to the world for everyone to see. Developing new green technology will increase the world’s energy delivering especially in poor countries.

With not contributing to global warming poses a risk that investor may shy away from. This type of green energy tech will not give itself to the most used investment area: Silicon Valley.
With energy supplies more highly in demand than in the past, green energy is starting to become very important. Mark Zuckerberg and BIll Gates have come together to produce the Breakthrough Energy Coalition. A very important step towards the future, it not only helps us, but assists in keeping the environment healthy as well.
