Experiencing Fright Fest

Every year in October on the weekends, Six Flags has a frightening event called Fright Fest. During the month, Six Flags is decorated with many spooky decorations, haunted houses, and monsters that come out later in the day.

During my visit, I was excited to experience the thrills again for the second year in a row. Arriving in the afternoon, all of the lines to every ride were over an hour long wait time.

Not wanting the line for Raging Bull to get any longer, my friend and I rushed to wait in the long line. After standing for over two hours, we finally got on the ride. The wait was worth it, though, since it was my first time on the ride and we got in the first row.

After that ride, we were determined to go on Vertical Velocity, which had a 45-minute wait. As we were the next ones in line, the people about to go on the ride were very excited. Just as the ride was about to start, the coaster never took off. Everyone was confused because the ride’s instructor already jokingly dismissed us. A minute went by and the people on the ride started to yell, wanting to get off. An announcement said that there was a ‘technical difficulty’ and they don’t know when it will be fixed. My friend and I were the next ones in line, and we didn’t want to leave the ride since we already waited such a long time. Ten minutes passed by and they finally announced that the ride was in operation. The people that were before us didn’t want to go on the ride anymore, so we were the first ones on the fixed ride. The ride then went off and was smooth with nothing unexpected.

The next ride we decided to go on was Batman, where we also had to wait two hours. We had the opportunity to go on this ride twice.because the wait time for the second time around dropped significantly.  We were able to be in the first row, which really scared the both of us.  The ride was short but amazing; the 360-degree loops made the ride so thrilling.

As we went from ride to ride, we had the opportunity to see the employees dressed up as  ‘monsters.’ Some adults were scared of them while some weren’t. Many ‘monsters’ tried to scare us, but we weren’t frightened. When they came up and growled at us, we didn’t know how to react since we weren’t scared. The only ‘monster’ that really scared us was the lumberjack who came up from behind and started up his chainsaw, which nearly gave us a heart attack.

We then settled down to eat some pizza and cheese sticks (that were definitely not worth $10.99). Even though Six Flags has a great business, everything there is so expensive. The prices are ridiculously high there and tickets aren’t the cheapest, but it is worth going there. Being able to go to Six Flags is a fun experience to share with friends and talk about later on. My friend, Monica, said, “Six flags is so fun! I can’t wait to come next year!” When Six Flags opens up again, be sure to go.
