Definitive ranking of Mr. Deguzman’s spirit week outfits

Deguzman’s whereabouts were completely unknown on Friday.

Homecoming week is finally here, and so are English teacher, Jon Deguzman’s, iconic outfits. He has built a reputation for pulling out all the stops when it comes to Homecoming, and this year, he did not disappoint.

Deguzman’s fifth best outfit was worn on Blue and Gold Friday. Deguzman did not have an outfit on Blue and Gold Friday because he was not in school that day. Therefore, this “outfit” (or lack thereof) automatically gets last place. However, readers can be assured Deguzman would have dressed to impress on Blue and Gold Friday, had he been present.

Deguzman’s fourth best outfit was on class color day. One thing is for certain: Deguzman needed some time off from going all out on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday,  Deguzman sported an ASL-themed purple long sleeve shirt and blue jeans. This outfit is relatively simple, but he represented his staff color with pride. Although all of Deguzman’s outfit choices are amazing, there were definitely more standouts earlier in the week.

Deguzman’s third best outfit was on Soccer Moms vs. Barbecue Dads day. Deguzman transcended expectations with his soccer mom attire. Typically, one would not expect a male teacher to don the infamous soccer mom, quarter zip and sunglasses. However, Deguzman brought out his A+ attire and feisty soccer mom attitude on Monday. Although this outfit was one for the books, better outfits were in store for the days to come.

Deguzman’s second best outfit was on Barbie and Ken day. Deguzman took the “Ken” theme and ran with it. Not only did he wear a matching set that looks straight out of Greta Gerwig’s film, he even brought a boogie board to drive home that his job is, in fact, “surf.” However, this outfit will not see a higher ranking because, as Greta Gerwig taught us, Kens are just a dime a dozen.

Deguzman’s best outfit was worn on Holiday day. The English department made the collective decision to dress up for St. Patrick’s Day. To say that Mr. Deguzman sham-rocked this theme is an understatement. His green kilt paired with the perfect socks and the most appropriate hat made his outfit stand out amongst the rest of the English department and the whole school. It is not every day that one sees their English teacher wearing a kilt, but with Deguzman, anything is possible.
