32-year-old Gypsy-Rose Blanchard-Anderson, commonly referred to as Gypsy Rose, was released from a detention center on Dec. 28 at 3:30 a.m. After being released from Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri, Blanchard jumped back onto the internet and quickly gained a huge social media following.

Despite her past criminal record, having received a charge for second-degree murder, Blanchard-Anderson is regarded as an endearing person. Her personality has caused her immediate gain in popularity on social media since her release.

“She is iconic for what she says on social media,” freshman SairaMae Callo said.

In response to her rise to fame Blanchard-Anderson posted a video on the social media platform TikTok.

“I just want to send a quick video to thank everyone for the massive amount of support that I’ve been getting on social media, everyone has been really really nice and supportive. I really appreciate that,” Blanchard-Anderson said.

Her TikToks primarily consist of her greeting her audience and giving her followers an update on her life at the present time. After her release from prison, a docu-series featuring Blanchard-Anderson was released titled “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard” as well as an ebook, in which Blanchard-Anderson is featured.

Although Blanchard-Anderson amassed a huge following of 9.9 million followers on TikTok, many believe that she does not deserve her newfound fame due to her past. Regardless of varying opinions, there is no doubt that in this short time after her release, Blanchard-Anderson has become a social media sensation.
