Folk-Pop artist Noah Kahan just announced the release of his new album, “The Great Divide.” Fans around the world are overjoyed as Kahan hasn’t released an album since “Stick Season” which was released in 2022. Kahan announced his album will be released on April 24.
Kahan released his first single from his album of the same name, “The Great Divide.” This new single was released on Jan. 30. This song is just as heartstrung and captivating as his previous albums. One reason Kahan has captivated so many, is because of his incredible storytelling and powerful themes woven thoughtfully into his music and this new single is no exception.
“The last five years have been the single most challenging, complicatedly beautiful and life-altering of my career,” Kahan said. “I was somewhere I understood and suddenly I was somewhere completely foreign. I was living in the opportunity I always wanted but felt disoriented and unsure of whether I deserved it.”
Kahan is known for his powerful messages related to mental health. He has been vocal about his mental health journey and his belief that mental health care should be accessible to all. In 2023, Kahan launched his charity organization, The Busyhead Project, which was named after his 2019 debut album. This organization is aimed at providing resources and information needed to end the stigma around mental health, as well as make mental healthcare accessible to all.
Finally, Kahan discussed his thoughts on his upcoming album, what drove him to create it and what we can expect to hear in April.
“The songs are the words I would say if I could. They are the fears I dance with in the moments before I drift off to sleep. The music here is my best attempt to delve deeper into the people, places and feelings that have made me who I am,” Kahan said. “I am grateful for all of it, for all of you, for listening to them, if you choose to do so.”
