Now that the girls volleyball season is over, boys volleyball is in full swing. The boys volleyball team had open gyms throughout January and February while Coach Zogata scouted out her team for the last time in her LHS volleyball coaching career.
“I am feeling extremely excited for this upcoming season,” senior Aiden McIntyre said. McIntyre has played on the LHS boys varsity team since his freshman year, giving him a seasoned perspective on the team.
“We have many key pieces that I know will contribute to a great overall team,” McIntyre said.
Many of the athletes are very excited for this year and have personal goals for the season. “My main hope [for] this season is personally playing stronger than last season,” junior Oliver Wernio said. Wernio has played on the team since his freshman year, making his debut on the varsity team his sophomore year.
The senior athletes also have the same goal: win the Regional title. “No Lemont boys volleyball team has ever done this, and I want this for my team,” McIntyre said.
Senior Micheal Tilly also shares the same aspirations. “My hopes for this season are to place well in tournaments, win Conference and win the Regional championship,” Tilly said.
As the season starts out, the boys are optimistic for the challenges they might face this year. “I am confident that this will be the year for Lemont to shine,” McIntyre said.
