After a successful season that resulted in the cheerleading team bringing home multiple victories, Lemont High School’s coveted program took 24th in the state.
The IHSA Competitive Cheerleading State Series takes place over the course of two days. On the first day, every team that advanced to state performs their routine, gets scored and the top 10 teams advance to Day Two. On the second day, the top 10 teams perform again and compete for their final placement. In LHS’s history, the cheerleading team has never failed to make it to state, and this season they continued to uphold their reputation.
Every year, the cheerleading team aims to create more complex routines as they strive to challenge their athletes in order to secure additional state titles. After taking first place last year, the team aimed to further enhance their performance with more difficult pyramid structures and floor work. Throughout the entirety of their 2025-26 season, the team performed the routine with few mistakes and received many first-place finishes during the competitive season.
Over time, the team has built a strong community of supporters including a strong fan base within the Old Quarry Middle School cheer team. This year, the Old Quarry team not only supported Lemont at their competition at Oak Forest, but also got to simultaneously compete that same day in front of Lemont’s team, which was a very unique opportunity for both teams to experience this season.
To conclude a strong season, the cheerleading team’s Day-One performance secured a score of 85.10 which landed them in 24th place, outside of the top 10 placement required to advance to Day Two. However, despite their state performance concluding on Day One, the Lemont community is endlessly proud of all of the athletes’ work and what they’ve accomplished.
