Hair up and cleats on, the girls soccer team returns to the turf with nothing but high spirits and ambitious goals. Returning from a successful 2025 season, the team is more than ready to get back out on the field. Last season, head coach Rick Prangen carried his team all the way to the sectionals, where they were defeated by Nazareth High School with a score of 2-3.
Prangen is coming back for his final season at Lemont High School to coach his team to victory and help them reach their goals along the way.
“[A] goal I have [is to] become a better defender and bring skills I work on at practice into games,” sophomore Allie Tilly said.
Last season, the girls successfully secured their 20th conference title, made possible by the team’s exemplary unity and teamwork.
“All together, we worked really well together last year. Teamwork is super important,” Tilly said.
Off the field, the team is able to foster friendships with one another to a great degree.
“Some things we would do is have pasta parties or go out for lunch, breakfast or dinner after some practices,” Tilly said.
These activities had a significant role in bringing the team together, especially for newcomers.
“[Spending time with my team] really helped me get to know everyone better because I was the only freshman,” Tilly said.
As the team prepares for their season opener on April 7 against Oak Lawn, the girls are more ready than ever to work together and achieve their collective goals.
