The junior class of 2025 beat the seniors at the flag football game on Thursday, Sept. 28.  The game ended with a score of 27-12.

Junior defensive lineman, Emma Lagan, was confident in the team’s abilities before the game.

“I think we’ve got a pretty good shot at this…just run in [and] see what happens,” Lagan said.

Junior football players have been heavily coaching the junior girls participating in the flag football game as many of them are inexperienced with football.  They ran through various drills and split up into defensive and offensive groups with the goal of creating a strategy to be utilized during the game.  The coaches also offered advice for the girls’ positions on the field.

“Personally, I love [the coaches]…they treat us like we’re adults and they treat us with respect…they take the time and if we need to work on something, they work on that and adjust from what we need,” defensive lineman Kaitlyn Slater said.

The game started with an early lead for the seniors when Avaree Taylor scored a touchdown in the first quarter. The seniors scored another touchdown before the end of the first half but were unsuccessful in securing more points during the second half. After tying in the second quarter, the juniors added 15 more points in the second half, ultimately emerging victorious.

“Obviously it’s sad that it’s our last time playing in the flag football game, and we wanted it to go the opposite way, but I feel that all the girls gave 100% out there and played for each other,” senior Avaree Taylor said.
