Superheroes vs. Villains day brought about a second day of dressing up for the student body. Students took to the school fieldhouse early in the morning dressed as their favorite heroes and villains. The hallways were filled with some of the most iconic characters of pop culture.
From Batman to Deadpool, Wonder Woman to the Powerpuff Girls, everyone seemed to go all out for the second day of Homecoming spirit week. The most popular superhero seemed to be Batman, though there were a number of Deadpools found hanging around the school as well. As for villains, Harley Quinn and the Joker seemed to be the most obvious choice in costume.
“My favorite thing was just seeing the groups of Batmans,” senior Allison Rihtar said.
An unique choice in dress-up came from the sophomore class with a minion themed skit performance. Featuring Gru and his minions, they aimed to steal the moon but stole the skit competition of the morning instead.
“I [liked] seeing all the pictures posted on peoples stories… and seeing all the unique costumes I didn’t even think about,” junior Savannah Beasley said.
Some unique costumes seen throughout the halls included Captain Underpants, American Psycho, Starfire, Raven and Mrs. Kupchek’s remarkable Poison Ivy costume. Walking down the halls felt as if you dived head first into an action movie due to all of the insane costumes everywhere you looked.
While it was a “super” day overall, some students were upset with the theme as it brought about repeats of costumes seen two years ago for Cartoon day. We saw a lot of repeats of DC superheroes like Superman and Wonderwoman, but also saw some cool new editions like Catwoman and Robin, which were not very common back in the 2022 spirit week.
This day was through the roof with creative ideas. Keep up the spirit, and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top at the end of the week.
